Kuro Games announced on September 24, 2026 that a limited test of tiered client packages for Wuthering Waves is live. The notice on tiered client resources names three PC packages: UHD, HD and SD. On PC, the test runs only through the Official Launcher; the notice also covers iOS and Android, where it says the feature is available across all mobile devices. As of October 8, 2026, Steam is not part of the PC test. We have not tested the launcher or the tiers.
Steam: the launcher and tiers Kuro plans for 3.8
For Wuthering Waves on PC, Kuro says that in future versions the original single resource package will be divided into UHD, HD and SD, based on graphics quality, models and other game assets. Players "who have been granted test access" can switch tiers in the launcher. Everyone else on PC gets the HD package by default after the version 3.7 update. Kuro's Steam notes for version 3.7, posted September 29, list tiered packages as a limited test.
A separate Steam post from September 29 covers the platform side. It says Kuro plans to upgrade how Steam delivers and updates the game in version 3.8: the current delivery method "will be replaced" by the Official Launcher. Kuro adds that once the launcher is on Steam, the platform will support tiers and early preloading. Until then, clients obtained through Steam will "temporarily" use the HD package by default in 3.7. The features are "currently under active development," and both the notice and that post say the release schedule and update instructions will come in future announcements. That is Kuro's stated plan. No date is given for 3.8 or for the launcher. Also not stated: what happens to existing Steam copies when the launcher arrives, and how test access is granted.

Wuthering Waves UHD, HD and SD estimated package sizes
Kuro's FAQ lists the PC package sizes for version 3.7 and adds: "Package sizes shown are estimates. Please refer to the actual sizes in Version 3.7." Its table:
| PC tier | Without cutscenes (est.) | With cutscenes (est.) | Highest graphics option |
|---|---|---|---|
| UHD | 99G | 128G | Ultra Quality |
| HD | 80G | 97G | High Quality |
| SD | 58G | 70G | Balanced |
The Steam store page, read October 8, 2026, lists 150 GB of available space at both minimum and recommended. The minimum notes "HDD Supported, SSD Recommended." and the recommended notes "SSD Required." Kuro does not say how its estimates relate to that listing, and we do not try to reconcile them. Our reading: the two are different kinds of figure, a store requirement and a pre-release package estimate, and neither page says whether the listing will change. For other storage figures, see free PC games system requirements.

Ultra Quality is tied to the UHD package
Kuro says the Ultra Quality graphics option will be available only in the UHD package. After 3.7, players outside the test will "temporarily be unable" to enable Ultra on PC. The package sets the upper limit for things like image clarity and video bitrate, and in-game settings stay adjustable, the FAQ adds.
