The biggest listed storage requirement in this comparison is Wuthering Waves (150 GB), Where Winds Meet (130 GB), NTE: Neverness to Everness (110 GB). That is the first thing to check, because storage is the requirement most players hit before any other. This page puts the official Steam requirements for 21 free PC games in one place, mixing the October 4, 2026 (UTC) reading for the original 13 with a October 16, 2026 (UTC) reading for the 8 titles added since, so you can compare them before you commit an evening and a big part of your drive to one of them.
Not benchmarked. Every figure below is copied from the game's own Steam store page. A requirement line is a floor set by the publisher, not a frame-rate promise.
Storage floors at a glance
4 of the 21 games list a minimum of 100 GB or more: NTE: Neverness to Everness, Wuthering Waves, Where Winds Meet, Once Human. 11 list 70 GB or more. The chart shows the minimum storage figure from each Steam listing.
Storage figures can grow with patches, and some listings round. Treat the chart as the starting point, then check the live Steam page for the current number.

Minimum requirements, game by game
The minimum column is the lowest configuration the publisher lists as supported. Entries marked "not listed" mean the Steam page does not give that line.

Recommended requirements, game by game
Recommended specs are the publisher's suggestion for a smoother experience, and several listings do not give one. Where a cell says "not listed", the Steam page leaves it empty.

What the numbers imply
RAM is the quiet divider: 4 games list 16 GB as the minimum (NTE: Neverness to Everness, Marvel Rivals, Wuthering Waves, Where Winds Meet), and 3 list 32 GB as recommended (NTE: Neverness to Everness, Wuthering Waves, Where Winds Meet). On the other end, most of the 8 titles added since October 16 sit at an 8 GB minimum (Enlisted, Once Human, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, SMITE 2, Throne and Liberty), with Albion Online and Warframe lower still at 4 GB. A PC with 8 GB can sit inside the minimum for most titles here and outside it for the biggest ones.
Storage type matters in the notes. Marvel Rivals, Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero, Where Winds Meet, STALZONE, Once Human and NARAKA: BLADEPOINT all mention an SSD in their additional notes. Wuthering Waves goes furthest: the Steam page says "HDD Supported, SSD Recommended" under minimum and "SSD Required" under recommended.
Some listings publish only one tier. MU: Dark Epoch, Project Entropy, SMITE 2 and Warframe each give a minimum but leave the recommended line empty or generic (SMITE 2's only says a 64-bit CPU and OS are required).
Some listings are old in style. A few pages still name Windows 7 in their text. We did not verify whether those games run on Windows 7 today, so treat that text as the listing's wording, not as a support statement.
Check your PC before you start
Three checks answer most questions in under five minutes.
- RAM and GPU. Open Task Manager, go to the Performance tab, and read total memory and the GPU name.
- DirectX version. Press Windows + R, type
dxdiag, and read the DirectX Version line on the System tab. - Free storage. Open Settings, System, Storage, and confirm the target drive has the listed minimum free, plus a margin for patches.
If your CPU or GPU is not in the listing's list, compare the model class rather than the exact name: the listing names examples, not the only supported parts.
What a requirement line does not tell you
It does not give a frame rate, a resolution, or a graphics preset. None of the 21 listings promise a frame rate. A floor tells you the game is supported to run, not that it will run well on your screen.
It also does not cover launcher overhead, anti-cheat, or background updates, and it can change after a patch. Always read the live store page on the day you start.

Frequently asked questions
Do these requirements include frame rates?
No. The Steam listings give hardware names, memory and storage only. None of the 21 pages states a frame-rate target, so this page does not either.
Why does one game list a very high CPU as its minimum?
Publishers choose their own baseline. NTE lists Intel Core i7-10700 (10th Gen) / Snapdragon X as its minimum CPU, which is higher than most games in this table. The listing does not explain the choice.
Which free game needs the least storage in this table?
By the minimum storage figure, MU: Dark Epoch lists 800 MB, the smallest of the 21. Albion Online and Infinity Kingdom are next, both at 2 GB. Check the live page, because storage needs can grow after patches.
Is Foundation: Galactic Frontier in this table?
No. Its Steam page still shows "Coming soon" as of October 27, 2026 (UTC), so there is no released Steam build to compare.
