Zenless Zone Zero: free to play. Sponsored link Play free

As of this page's most recent reading, the highest share of positive Steam reviews among the 21 free PC games we checked is a tie: Zenless Zone Zero and Warframe both sit at 87.8% positive. That number measures Steam reviewers who chose to write one. It is not a verdict on the game, and it says nothing about how a game runs on your PC. Not hands-on tested.

The sample

This ranking covers 21 free games that have a released Steam build and at least one Steam review. Foundation: Galactic Frontier is left out because its Steam page still shows "Coming soon" and has no user reviews.

For each game we read three views of Steam's public review data, counting all purchase types, on October 4, 2026 (UTC) for the first 13 games and October 16, 2026 (UTC) for the 8 added since:

  • All languages: every review, in every language.
  • English only: the reviews written in English, which is the closest view for readers in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
  • Latest 200 English reviews: the most recent English reviews, with the date range they cover. For popular games that is a day or two. For small games it can be months.

Steam's labels (Very Positive, Mostly Positive, Mixed) come from the positive share and the review count. Valve has not published the exact thresholds, but the community-documented version puts Very Positive at 80% or more with at least 50 reviews, Mostly Positive from 70%, and Mixed between 40% and 69% (Steam Page Analyzer).

The ranking

The table is sorted by the all-language positive share, and every row carries its review count so you can judge how much weight it deserves.

What the numbers say

NTE: Neverness to Everness, Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero, Where Winds Meet, Enlisted and Warframe are the six games rated Very Positive. The top of the list is a near-tie: Zenless Zone Zero and Warframe are both 87.8%, and Wuthering Waves sits just 0.3 points behind at 87.5%. Warframe's figure rests on by far the largest sample of the six, 680,086 reviews, against Zenless Zone Zero's 17,299.

Once Human, Albion Online, Marvel Rivals, Arena Breakout: Infinite, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, STALZONE and War Thunder are rated Mostly Positive, a band running from 71.2% to 79.1%.

8 games are rated Mixed: Throne and Liberty, RAID: Shadow Legends, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, MU: Dark Epoch, Delta Force, SMITE 2, Project Entropy, Infinity Kingdom. Sample size matters in this group: PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has 2,748,495 reviews at 60.5%, more than 10,000 times Project Entropy's 269 reviews at 51.0%. A small sample moves more with each new review.

The language split matters

All-language percentages can hide big differences between languages. Delta Force is the clearest case: 57.7% positive in all languages but 65.5% in English, a gap of 7.8 points. Its Simplified Chinese reviews number 62,277, which is 31.6% of all its reviews, and only 40.5% of them are positive.

The gap runs the other way for some games. Infinity Kingdom is 43.4% positive in English against 49.9% overall, and STALZONE is 67.7% in English against 72.1% overall. English reviews are only 17.0% of STALZONE's total, so its all-language figure leans on other languages. NARAKA: BLADEPOINT shows the widest gap among the newer additions: 81.1% positive in English against 73.3% across all languages.

If you read and play in English, use the English column as your baseline. We do not know why languages differ, and the data cannot say.

The latest 200 English reviews

The "latest 200" column is a snapshot, not a trend. It covers very different periods: for Marvel Rivals the 200 most recent English reviews run from 2026-10-02 to 2026-10-03, while for NARAKA: BLADEPOINT they stretch from 2026-08-03 to 2026-10-15, more than two and a half months.

Some snapshots sit well away from the long-run English figure. Marvel Rivals is 56.0% positive in its latest window against 76.4% in English overall. STALZONE is 89.5% against 67.7%. Throne and Liberty runs the other direction, 44.5% in its latest window against 62.4% in English overall. Project Entropy's English reviews were not broken out separately in our reading, so no "latest 200" figure is given for it here.

Enlisted is a special case: its Steam page does not expose a standard "latest 200 English reviews" window the way most listings here do, so we report the store page's own "Recent Reviews" widget instead, 82.0% positive across the last 1,199 reviews (a rolling 30-day window, not 200 reviews), and flag that it is not directly comparable to the other rows.

A patch, a sale, a season launch or a controversy can all move a two-day window. Treat a big gap as a reason to open the game's recent reviews on Steam and read them, not as a conclusion.

What they cannot tell you

Steam reviews cover only people who played on Steam and chose to write a review. They exclude players on other launchers or consoles, and they say nothing about whether your PC meets the game's system requirements.

They also do not measure how much a player spent, how long they played, or whether a game's monetization felt fair. All 22 Steam listings we read, including Foundation's, carry Steam's "In-App Purchases" flag (SMITE 2's also carries an Early Access tag), so a positive review is not evidence that a game is free of spending pressure. We did not hands-on test any of these games.

Frequently asked questions

Which free PC game has the best Steam reviews?

By the all-language share, Zenless Zone Zero and Warframe are tied for the lead at 87.8%, with Wuthering Waves close behind at 87.5%. The gap at the top is small enough that the order could change with a few dozen reviews.

Are Steam reviews reliable for free games?

They show what Steam reviewers reported, with sample sizes you can check. They are not a test of the game, and they miss players who are not on Steam.

Why are English-only scores different from the main score?

Each language has its own reviewers. Delta Force is 57.7% positive overall and 65.5% in English, because its Simplified Chinese reviews are 40.5% positive and make up 31.6% of the total.

Is Foundation: Galactic Frontier included?

No. Its Steam page shows "Coming soon" as of October 4, 2026 (UTC) and has no user reviews.
