Not hands-on tested. This is a reception report built from Steam's public review data for Throne and Liberty, read on October 16, 2026 between 00:35 and 00:48 UTC: the all-languages and English totals, ten individual-language breakdowns, and the latest 200 English reviews. It rests on what other Steam reviewers reported and what Steam's own labels say, not on GamiPrime's own play.

Steam labels Throne and Liberty Mixed overall: 67.0% of 68,948 reviews are positive (46,184 positive, 22,764 negative). GamiPrime's own Games-category piece on Throne and Liberty already covers the play-or-skip decision from the spec sheet and that same headline number; this report instead asks what the rating looks like once it is split by the language reviewers wrote in, and what the most recent reviews say that the lifetime figure does not.

Throne and Liberty Steam reviews, by language

Read this with care: the all-languages figure blends review populations that do not agree with each other. Steam's review API returns a separate count for each language, and the split is where the information is.

Source: Steam's public appreviews API (purchase_type=all, one query per language), read October 16, 2026 between 00:35 and 00:48 UTC. Percentages are positive reviews divided by total, calculated by GamiPrime; labels are Steam's own.

Two readings. First, English is the largest single language group by a wide margin (32,735 of 68,948, about 47% of the total), so the all-languages figure (67.0%) and the English figure (62.4%) sit close together, both Mixed, even though several smaller language groups rate the game noticeably higher. Second, the gap between English and the three strongest groups is real: Brazilian Portuguese sits 19.1 points above English, Spanish 11.5 points above, and French 8.3 points above. Simplified Chinese, German and Russian track closer to English, all three also Mixed.

Why English-language reviewers rate Throne and Liberty lower than Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish or French reviewers do is not stated anywhere in this data. We read no individual reviews for this report, and Steam's review counts do not carry reasons. Any explanation, whether server region, community moderation, promotional timing or something else, would be a guess, so none is offered here. Korean and Traditional Chinese are the two smallest groups in this table (102 and 64 reviews) and their percentages should be read as less stable than the larger groups.

The recency gap: a lower window than the lifetime figures

Steam's own listing also separates out its most recent reviews. The latest 200 English reviews, spanning August 9 to October 15, 2026, 68 days to collect 200, are 44.5% positive (89 of 200). That sits 17.9 points below the lifetime English share (62.4%) and 22.5 points below the all-languages share (67.0%).

GamiPrime's Games-category article on Throne and Liberty already reports this same 68-day window as wider than the three-to-four-day spans recorded for higher-volume titles in this review set, consistent with a smaller recent flow of English reviews rather than a single review-bombing event. Steam's public data gives no cause for the lower recent share either: it could reflect a specific update, a seasonal dip in new players, a changed mix of reviewers, or something this data cannot see. We do not guess at which.

No recency breakdown by the non-English languages in the table above could be retrieved for this report, so the 44.5% figure should not be read onto any language but English.

What Steam says about purchases

Steam's category data for Throne and Liberty includes the "In-App Purchases" flag alongside "Free To Play" as a genre tag. The store data read for this report does not include a price list, a draw-rate disclosure, or a description of what any purchase unlocks: those fields were outside the scope of what the appreviews and appdetails endpoints returned here. A reader weighing whether Throne and Liberty's purchases matter to progression should check the live store page directly; this report does not have the evidence to answer that question, and it will not guess. For how free-to-play purchase models generally work across PC games, see our explainer on how free-to-play PC games make money.

What this data cannot tell you

  • How the game feels, how it runs on a given machine, or whether its Mixed label reflects bugs, balance, monetization, server issues or something else. Review counts say how many reviewers recommend the game, not why.
  • Why English-language reviewers rate it lower than Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish or French reviewers. No cause is stated in the sources read for this report.
  • Why the latest 200 English reviews run below the lifetime figures. No cause is stated.
  • What the in-app purchases cost or unlock. Not covered by the data read here.
  • A recency split for any language other than English.

Frequently asked questions

Is Throne and Liberty rated well on Steam?

As of October 16, 2026 (00:35 to 00:48 UTC), 67.0% of 68,948 Steam reviews are positive across all languages, which Steam labels "Mixed." The English-only figure is also Mixed, at 62.4% of 32,735 reviews. Three smaller language groups read higher: Brazilian Portuguese (81.5%), Spanish (73.9%) and French (70.7%).

Why do the recent reviews look worse than the overall score?

The latest 200 English reviews (August 9 to October 15, 2026) are 44.5% positive, well below the 62.4% lifetime English share. Steam's public data does not state a cause, and this report does not guess at one.

Is Throne and Liberty free to play?

Steam's store data lists it as free, with in-app purchases. The data read for this report does not include prices or what the purchases unlock.

Our reading of Throne and Liberty's Steam reception

Steam's own numbers support a narrow claim: the lifetime, all-languages rating of Mixed is accurate for the two largest review populations, all languages combined and English on its own, but it is not the whole picture. Three smaller language groups, led by Brazilian Portuguese, rate the game meaningfully higher, and the most recent English reviews run well below even the lower lifetime figure. Our reading: a Mixed label with that much internal variation is one to read with its breakdown in hand, not as a single number, and the recent-review gap is worth tracking rather than dismissing, since nothing in Steam's public data explains it yet. For how Throne and Liberty compares with other free-to-play PC games on the same measures, see GamiPrime's ranking of free-to-play PC games by Steam reviews, which uses the same method.

Advantages

  • Three of the larger language groups read Mostly Positive or better: Brazilian Portuguese (81.5% of 7,596), Spanish (73.9% of 6,256) and French (70.7% of 4,379)
  • Spanish-Latam reviews are also Mostly Positive (71.7% of 1,090)
  • The all-languages total (68,948) and the English total (32,735) are both large enough samples that their percentages are not driven by a handful of reviews

Disadvantages

  • The two largest language groups, all-languages overall (67.0%) and English (62.4%), both carry Steam's Mixed label
  • The latest 200 English reviews are 44.5% positive, close to 18 points below the 62.4% lifetime English share, with no stated cause in the data
  • Simplified Chinese, German and Russian reviews are also Mixed (62.2%, 63.8% and 61.9%), so the more positive language groups are a minority of the sample, not the norm
  • Steam's listing offers in-game purchases but the store data read here does not give odds, prices or what they unlock
