Not hands-on tested. This is a reception report built from Steam's own review counts and store listing, read October 16, 2026, not from GamiPrime's own play. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS carries 2,748,495 Steam reviews across all languages, 60.5% positive, which Steam labels Mixed. That headline figure is the largest review base GamiPrime has read for any title in this cluster, and it is also the one place where reading only the all-languages number hides the most: broken out by language, the picture is not one Mixed game but a mix of language groups that mostly read Mostly Positive or better, pulled down by Simplified Chinese, the single largest language group, which sits close to an even split.
GamiPrime already has a separate verdict on PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS covering its PC specs and the headline rating; this report looks only at what the review counts themselves show once split by language, and does not repeat that angle.

Read this with care, the way any all-languages figure should be read: it blends populations that do not rate the game the same way. Simplified Chinese is not a minor group here. At 1,401,411 reviews it is larger than English's 448,215, making it the single largest language group behind PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS' Steam rating, and it sits at 51.0% positive, just above an even split. Traditional Chinese, a much smaller group, reads lower still at 50.3%, the lowest share among the fourteen languages checked. Japanese also reads Mixed, at 54.4% of a comparatively small 6,019 reviews. Every other language GamiPrime checked, nine of the fourteen, reads Mostly Positive or, in the case of Brazilian Portuguese, Very Positive.

Why the all-languages number reads Mixed
Remove Simplified Chinese from the total and the remaining reviews read differently. The other thirteen languages GamiPrime checked, plus whatever share of the roughly 62,889 reviews outside those fourteen groups, together total 1,347,084 reviews at 70.5% positive. That percentage would carry Steam's Mostly Positive label on its own.
Our reading: the all-languages Mixed label on PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is not a sign that opinion is split everywhere. It is close to a single large language group, Simplified Chinese, sitting near a 50/50 split inside a much larger set of language groups that mostly rate the game well above that line. The all-languages figure is accurate as a count; it is a poor summary of what most individual language groups report.
Recent reviews against the lifetime rate, in the two largest language groups
A 200-review recent window, pulled through the same API with filter=recent, reads higher than the lifetime rate in both English and Simplified Chinese, the two largest language groups behind this rating.
- English. Latest 200 reviews, September 14 to 18, 2026: 141 positive, 70.5%, against a 66.3% lifetime figure across all 448,215 English-classed reviews.
- Simplified Chinese. Latest 200 reviews, September 17 to 18, 2026: 128 positive, 64.0%, against a 51.0% lifetime figure across all 1,401,411 Simplified-Chinese-classed reviews.
Both recent windows sit roughly four to thirteen points above their own language's lifetime share. Steam's public data does not say why; a lifetime figure built from years of reviews, dating back to the game's December 21, 2017 full release per the Steam listing, moves slowly even if recent sentiment has improved, so a short window reading higher is not unusual on its own. Whether this is the start of a sustained shift or a short-lived window is not something two recent-review samples, three to five days each, can settle.

What this data cannot tell you
Several things sit outside what a Steam review count, split by language, can establish.
- Why Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese read lower than most other languages. The API returns counts and a recommend flag, not a reason; we read no individual reviews for this report and offer no explanation.
- Whether the gap reflects different player populations, different regional experiences of the same game, translation effects in how Steam classifies reviews, or something else. Any of those would be a guess from this data alone.
- The languages outside the fourteen checked here, roughly 2.3% of the all-languages total (about 62,889 reviews), which this report does not attribute to any language.
- A recent-window reading for any language besides English and Simplified Chinese, or for a period longer than the roughly three-to-five-day windows Steam's cursor returned.
- How the game plays, how it performs on a given machine, or whether its purchases are worth the price. Review counts measure how many reviewers recommend the game, not why, and not what the in-app purchases Steam flags on the listing actually cost; see our guide on how free-to-play PC games make money for what that flag generally means before you spend.
Our reading of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS' Steam reception
Steam's own numbers support a specific, narrower claim than "this game is Mixed." Most of the language groups GamiPrime checked rate PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Mostly Positive or better. The all-languages Mixed label exists mainly because Simplified Chinese, the largest single language group at 1,401,411 reviews, sits close to an even split, and pulls a review base built mostly of higher-rating languages down to 60.5%. Recent activity in both of the two largest groups reads higher than each group's own lifetime figure, though neither source explains the gap or the recent shift. A player reading only "Mixed, 2.7 million reviews" is reading an accurate but incomplete number; the language split is where the real information sits. For how PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS' review base compares with other free-to-play titles GamiPrime tracks, see the ranking of free-to-play PC games by Steam reviews, which uses the same method.

Advantages
- Most individual language groups GamiPrime checked are Mostly Positive or better: Brazilian Portuguese at 82.6% of 65,804, Thai at 78.4% of 19,055, Polish at 76.7% of 17,936, Spanish at 75.7% of 46,817 and five more Mostly Positive languages between 71% and 75%

- The most recent 200 reviews read higher than the lifetime rate in both of the two largest language groups: 70.5% in English (September 14 to 18, 2026) against a 66.3% lifetime figure, and 64.0% in Simplified Chinese (September 17 to 18, 2026) against a 51.0% lifetime figure
Disadvantages
- Simplified Chinese is the largest single language group at 1,401,411 reviews, larger than English's 448,215, and sits at 51.0% positive, just above an even split and labeled Mixed by Steam
- Traditional Chinese reads lower still, 50.3% of 32,655 reviews, the lowest share GamiPrime recorded among the languages checked
- No source read explains the gap between Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese (all Mixed) and the Mostly-Positive-or-better languages; Steam's review API returns counts, not reasons
