Before you start: know which account holds your progress, which server it is on, and how you sign in to it. By the end you will know what the published reports say about moving to the Steam version of Zenless Zone Zero, and where they stop. We did not link an account ourselves, so the steps below are what sources report, not a tested walkthrough.
What to check first
Three facts decide whether the move goes smoothly. Check this before you launch the Steam version. The same questions apply to any game that ties progress to a publisher account.
- Which account you use. Zenless Zone Zero uses a HoYoverse ID.
- Which server your progress is on. RPGSite and KeenGamer both say to pick the correct server or regional server.
- How you sign in today. If you cannot remember the email or login method, recover it first.

Zenless Zone Zero: what is reported
RPGSite reported two options on Steam: link an existing HoYoverse ID to your Steam account, or create a new HoYoverse ID through Steam. The linking happens during first launch, through in-game prompts. When you link an existing account, RPGSite says your progress carries over, and you must select the correct server where it exists (RPGSite, June 16, 2026).
KeenGamer reported the same principle: cross-save works by linking a Steam account to a HoYoverse account, and all progress is transferable between platforms provided you pick the correct regional servers (KeenGamer, June 17, 2026).
Platforms reported by RPGSite as crossplay: PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android.
Caveats reported at launch
RPGSite listed three limits of the Steam version: no early file preload through the HoYoPlay launcher, no Resource Management function on Steam, and the full game assets coming by default with no partial option. These are reports from launch week. The current state may differ.
Another game, another login
NTE (Neverness to Everness) has its own login flow on PC, with its own order of steps. Do not reuse the Zenless Zone Zero steps for it. Read the guide titled "Neverness to Everness on Steam, Epic Games Store or Launcher" on this site.

What is not confirmed
- Every transfer case. The sources we read do not list each combination of platform, region and account type.
- Anything about progress loss. No source we read says what happens if you pick the wrong server.
- Whether the launch-week caveats still apply.

Common mistakes
- Creating a new account on Steam when you meant to link your existing one.
- Choosing a server out of habit rather than the one that holds your progress.
- Skipping the support page: if a prompt on screen differs from this guide, follow the prompt and check the publisher's support pages.
If that does not work
Stop before confirming anything you do not understand. Check the in-game prompt, then the publisher's official support page. For the launch facts of each Steam version, see our PC free-to-play news timeline. For the money side of this game, read how free-to-play games make money.
Next steps
Check that your PC meets the listed requirements in the system requirements comparison before you start.

What if I pick the wrong server?
No source we read says. Choose the server that holds your progress and check the in-game prompt.
Is there a guarantee my progress transfers?
Not from the sources we read. They describe the link and the server choice but do not cover every case.
