As of October 16, 2026 (UTC), Warframe is running a one-time event called Epoch Operation: Taubound. Digital Extremes' official announcement is dated October 15, 2026, 11:00 ET, and says the event runs "for one month only," through November 17, 2026, with "no reruns." That is the confirmed part. The details below are dated, with the source for each.

What is confirmed
The event opens a path to the Tau System through the Sentient Mothership Praghasa, who needs a resource called Moonflesh as fuel. Warframe's October 15 announcement says players collect Moonflesh from Mission nodes on Eris: fixed amounts from missions, extra amounts from rotating Tactical Alerts, and occasional drops from Infested enemies on Eris. Moonflesh is then traded to Praghasa for rewards, and interacting with her also unlocks daily narrative updates tied to the event.
Access requires one existing quest, and the normal star-chart gating is lifted for the event. The announcement states that players need to have completed the Vor's Prize quest before October 15 to reach Eris during Taubound, and that the "normal Star Chart and Junction requirements will be lifted" for the event's duration. A separate, permanent Tau Prologue Quest exists, unlocked by completing The Hex and The Old Peace, but the announcement is explicit that "this is not required to harvest Moonflesh as part of Epoch Operation: Taubound."
Rewards include named cosmetic and crafting items. The official page lists the Contegorus Armor Set, the Vacis Amp Skin, the Dhampyre Syandana, a Legendary Core and a new Honoria as the highlighted rewards, alongside roughly 50 further items (glyphs, emblems, additional Syandanas and Skins, Blueprints, Kuva, Credits, Endo, Archon Shards, Clan Sigils, melee and secondary mods, and an Arcane Battery) that Digital Extremes lists in full on its own page. GamiPrime has not verified every item on that longer list independently; the named highlights above are the ones repeated across the primary source.
Digital Extremes previewed the event five days before it opened. Warframe's "October in Warframe" post, dated October 5, 2026, names Epoch Operation: Taubound as one of four October items (alongside the Halloween-themed Nights of Naberus event, a new high-level mode called The Icebind, and a charity quest for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation) and repeats the same October 15 start date and Vor's Prize requirement.
How this connects to the last major update
Taubound follows Update 44: Iceblade of Narin, which MP1st reported Digital Extremes had deployed on September 23, 2026. That update added Narin, described as Warframe's 66th playable Warframe, built around Cold damage, shields, Overguard and melee combat, plus a new Earth hub (Yuvan's Peak) and new Zariman content (Melica's Lab) (MP1st, September 23, 2026). Console versions of that update are numbered Warframe 2.54 and 1.061, per the same report. MP1st also reported that a six-player mode originally called Glacial Defiance was not included at launch and was expected by October 15; Digital Extremes' own October post later confirms a six-player mode under a different name, The Icebind, going live from October 7.

What is not confirmed
- A release date for Warframe: Tau. Both official posts we read call it "later this year" without naming a date.
- Whether the full ~50-item reward list is complete or subject to change. We read the highlighted items directly; we did not independently verify every line of the longer list.
- MassivelyOP's framing of Taubound as a "tease." A MassivelyOP article dated October 9, 2026 covered the event ahead of its launch; GamiPrime could not reload that page directly to re-check its wording, so nothing from it beyond the dates already confirmed on Digital Extremes' own pages is used here.
This article covers the Taubound event itself, not the update it follows. For the patch content of Update 44 and Update 44.1 (the Narin Warframe, The Icebind mode, Riven Splicing), see GamiPrime's separate article on Warframe's two most recent shipped updates, published the same day.

Worth watching
- Whether Digital Extremes announces a Warframe: Tau release date before Taubound ends on November 17.
- Whether the event's rewards or Moonflesh drop rates change mid-run, as event tuning sometimes does in live-service games.
- The permanent Tau Prologue Quest (The Hex, then The Old Peace), which stays available after Taubound ends.
